Whether fiction or fact, I love working with stories that tell us about our lives and our world.
I began learning my craft at The Women’s Press, back in 1994, where I worked my way up to commissioning editor. While there I published authors such as Octavia E Butler, Patricia Grace and Anchee Min. As editorial director at Ebury Press I published many Sunday Times bestsellers – from the memoir Nurse on Call, which spent five weeks at number one, to books by national treasures such as Pam Ayres, Sue Johnston, Gok Wan and Lynda Bellingham.
Now based in Cumbria, I work as managing editor for independent publisher September Publishing in addition to select freelance work.
