The Best Medicine

Georgie (second from left) at Whipps Cross

In the 1949, Staff Nurse Georgie Edwards won herself a place at St Bartholomew’s to train as a doctor. Her work also took her to Whipps Cross and to a Hackney GP’s surgery. Her time as a nurse convinced her to become the kind of doctor who always listened to her patients.

This is such a fascinating and warm book, one I acquired at Ebury and which is published today. Georgie’s memoir really is the best medicine!
